With a career that spans travel, technology, publishing, advertising, and social media, Melissa can’t remember a time when she wasn’t writing. Her work has been accepted for publication in Vox Poetica, When Women Waken, Iodine Poetry Journal, When Women Waken, Writing for Peace, and others publications.
In April of 2012, Melissa founded Women Writers of the Triad, a support and educational group for local writers within the Triad community and across the state over 70 members strong.
In 2010, Melissa founded 20 Lines a Day, an collaborative community art blog of writers, artists and photographers with more than 50 resident artists and a readership of several thousand.
She is also an active member of the North Carolina Poetry Society and Writers Group of the Triad.
